Ex-England and Sussex coach backs Arundel's new cricket coaching scheme

Despite the prospect of little cricket in 2020, the Friends of Arundel Castle Cricket Club have been busy outlining plans beyond the current season.

Following recent investment on their cricket school they plan to launch a new coaching pathway aimed at age groups from four years upwards – including adults.

The courses will be run at weekends and during the school holidays. On top of these sessions, specialist masterclasses and 1-2-1 coaching will also be offered. The pathway will be launched in October.

Now Robinson has joined the club board and he will be offering guidance in the development of the pathway.

As a starting point (and in line with ECB guidelines) Robinson is currently delivering 1-2-1 coaching sessions on the Castle Ground. This opportunity is open to all. To book these sessions please email [email protected]

The board also confirmed it had successfully moved most of its May fixtures into September.

Chief Operating Officer James Rufey said: "We were of course delighted that Mark joined the club board.

"We are currently in the process of devising a new coaching pathway covering all ages and abilities. His experience and knowledge of the game will be of huge benefit in mapping out this piece of work."

On the subject of the 2020 fixture list:, Rufey said: ‘In term of this year’s fixture list, we are like every other organisation in that we will follow Government and governing body guidance.

"We have successfully moved most of May into September. We have unfortunately lost our June county festival, two sets of Australian visitors and three national finals. But we are ready to start – once safe to do so."
