Harry Finch scored an unbeaten 92 from just 58 balls in a Royal London One-Day Cup match against Glamorgan at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground.

Batting at number four, the 19-year-old struck 12 four and two sixes in a 72-minute knock which helped Sussex post 323-3 from 48 overs batting first. England international Luke Wright blasted 127 off 115 deliveries at the top of the order - his best one day score for his county.

Despite posting such an imposing total, it still wasn’t enough because Glamorgan triumphed by seven wickets on a Duckworth/Lewis calculation with eight balls to spare after amassing 330-3 from 46.4 overs in reply.

South Africa star Jacques Rudolph led the way with 169 not out from 150 balls - the highest one-day score of his career and the best for Glamorgan in List A cricket - while Murray Goodwin made 59 from 32 deliveries against his former county.

Finch told BBC Sussex: “I’m a bit shellshocked. It hasn’t sunk in and I don’t think it will until the morning. I was pleased to get a game having been 12th man all season. It was really nice to get out there and show what I can do.

“I love batting with Wrighty - he makes the game a lot clearer and a lot more fun, and he is a fantastic player as his form suggests.

“It’s my first year and I am just learning the game, but when I do get a chance to play, it’s great to get out there and play with that freedom.”

Sussex finished eighth of the nine counties in Group B of the 50-over competition having won three and lost five of their eight matches.
