A BLISTERING 85 not out from only 39 balls by Bradley Bridson fired Findon Cricket Club into the West Sussex final of the National Village Cup on Sunday.
Findon will host Rottingdean in the area final on June 17, looking for revenge after Rottingdean knocked Findon out at the semi-final stage last year with a three-run win.
Findon bowled Mid Sussex League Poynings out for just 120 in 35.4 overs as left-arm seamer Mickey Demetriou led the way with 4-26 off nine overs.
Left-arm spinner Harry Metters grabbed 3-16 from 7.4 overs and Felix Jordan’s four overs cost just four runs, while he also picked up two wickets.
Findon made light work of the target as they cruised home in only 13 overs. Bradley Bridson’s unbeaten 85 included eight fours and seven sixes. He put on 41 for the first wicket with Daniel Bridson, who scored 14, before Bradley added an unbroken 83 for the second wicket with Glenn Bridson, who ended 19 not out.
Rotting-dean reached the final with a 12-run victory at home to Middleton, after they scored 266-4 from their 40 overs.
Findon had little to cheer about on Saturday, though, as they lost by seven wickets at Cuckfield in Sussex League Division 2 and dropped to second from bottom in the table.
Glenn Bridson top-scored with 23 as Findon were all out for 114 in 44.5 overs. Nick Patterson claimed 9-58 off 22.5 overs, with Josh Hayward taking the other wicket to fall.
Marc Gardner then struck 52 and Sarel Erwee scored 43 not out as Cuckfield reached their target in 22. 5 overs.
Findon are at Pulborough on Saturday.
