The Worthing Cricket Club batsman is in the county side for the game which forms part of the annual Horsham Festival of Cricket - beginning with the County Championship clash and culminating with the Yorkshire Bank 40 match against Kent Spitfires on Sunday.

Sussex are nicely-placed in the Division 1 table, lying only 15 points off the summit with a game in hand over the three sides above them.

In last week’s game at Derbyshire, where Sussex triumphed by nine wickets, Michael Yardy (153) and Chris Jordan (92) led with the bat while Steve Magoffin picked up four wickets in the second innings.

Skipper Ed Joyce is away on international duty with Ireland this week as they take on Pakistan in a one-day international series, so Chris Nash will captain the side on his home ground.

Luke Wright is back in the squad following a stint with Pune Warriors in the IPL, while Matt Prior remains with the England side for their Test Series against New Zealand.

The Sussex squad is as follows: JE Anyon, BC Brown (wkt), JS Gatting, RJ Hamilton-Brown, CJ Jordan, CJ Liddle, MW Machan, SJ Magoffin, CD Nash (capt), MS Panesar, LWP Wells, LJ Wright, MH Yardy.

The match started this morning at 11am, with Somerset winning the toss and electing to bat.
