Sussex draw with Yorkshire at Arundel

SUSSEX’S County Championship Division 1 match with Yorkshire at Arundel Castle ended in a draw this afternoon.

Sussex finished on 228-3 from 95 overs as Luke Wells, Rory Hamilton-Brown and Chris Nash all hit half-centuries.

Sussex had began the day on 21-0 - 133 runs behind - and Nash was the first to fall, when he was caught by Adam Lyth off Azeem Rafiq for 53, after hitting eight fours from 105 balls, with the score on 66.

Wells and Hamilton-Brown added 110 for the second wicket, before the latter was caught by Azeem Rafiq off Lyth for 62, after striking eight fours and one six off 106 deliveries.

Wells was bowled by Lyth for 81 after hitting nine fours from 246 balls with the score on 212.

Matt Machan finished unbeaten on 13 and Luke Wright was 11 not out as the match was drawn.

Sussex had scored 316 in their first innings, before Yorkshire declared on 470-7 as Jonny Bairstow struck 161 not out.

Yorkshire took ten points from the game and Sussex picked up nine.
