Sussex name Championship squad for Arundel

SUSSEX have named their 13-man squad for the County Championship Division 1 match with Durham at Arundel Castle.

The match runs from Wednesday (July 18) until Saturday, with an 11am start each day.

Sussex will be aiming to put pressure on the leading sides in the table with a win at the Arundel Castle Ground against a Durham outfit who are yet to taste victory in the four-day game this season.

The rain frustrated Sussex in their latest County Championship encounter as only two days’ play was possible against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, although Monty Panesar returned to first-team action with four wickets.

Ben Brown replaces Matt Prior, who prepares for England’s First Test against South Africa which begins later this week, behind the stumps, while Ed Joyce is in action for Ireland in their Twenty20 series with Bangladesh.

Following yesterday’s Clydesdale Bank 40 wash-out against Kent, the pitch at Arundel is drying nicely. Both teams practised at the ground earlier today (July 17) and play is expected to start on time if there is no more rain.

The full Sussex squad is Amjad Khan, James Anyon, Ben Brown, Joe Gatting, Murray Goodwin, Naveed Arif Gondal, Steve Magoffin, Chris Nash, Monty Panesar, Luke Wells, Kirk Wernars, Luke Wright and Mike Yardy.
