Sussex sign seamer Miller

SUSSEX County Cricket Club have signed right-arm seamer Andrew Miller on a one-year contract.

25 year-old Miller has been on trial with Sussex for the past month, having had a spell at Warwickshire after starting his career with his home county Lancashire.

He travelled with Sussex to both Port Elizabeth and Dubai on their recent pre-season tours and after performing well, he has been awarded a contract for the 2013 season.

Miller said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be given this opportunity at a club like Sussex. I had a fantastic pre-season and everything has progressed really well with the trips to Port Elizabeth and Dubai.

“I am really looking forward to making an impact within the squad as we go forward.”

Sussex’s professional cricket manager Mark Robinson said: “Andrew has worked really hard to get this opportunity. He has come from having nothing to earning the right to having a contract through hard work and perseverance.

“We’ve been impressed by his attitude, commitment and the repeatability of his action. As a bowler, he is different to our other seamers and hopefully he will kick on from here.”
