THE Arundel Festival of Cricket got underway today (Thursday, June 13) after rain postponed the opening day’s play.
The first day of the County Championship Division 1 match was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Wednesday owing to rain throughout the day.
However, the groundsmen worked hard on the pitch this morning, which enabled play to get underway at 11.15am.
Surrey won the toss and, unsurprisingly, in overcast and blustery conditions opted to bowl first.
Sussex went in to lunch on 69-2 from 25 overs. If the weather stays dry, play will continue until 6.15pm today.
The Championship match also takes place on Friday and Saturday (11am start each day), with the YB40 match with Northamptonshire taking place on Sunday (1.45pm).
