The leaders lost the toss as visitors Littlehampton, Clapham & Patching inserted them on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Southwater.

The hosts piled on the runs and declared with nine overs to spare on 277-4. Paul Osbourne cracked 94 off 50 balls including four towering sixes, while captain Johann Brouwer made a solid 78.

The visitors stumbled to 137 all out, as Osbourne took 5-24 to compliment his work with the bat.

Second-place Arundel could only muster a winning draw against RAM, as skipper Joe Bain made a patient 95 in his team’s total of 230-7 declared.

RAM’s chase was looking good with 60 on board without loss, but when Bunty Suthar was removed for 42 the innings quickly deteriorated.

Fellow opener Harshil Patel then went for 45 and the focus quickly turned to survival.

Arundel’s veteran Chitty took 4-49, but RAM managed to hold out with just one wicket to spare in their total of 191-9.

Another high-scoring first innings was seen at St Andrews (Burgess Hill), as Felbridge & Sunnyside made 254-6 declared.

Robin James led the innings with an excellent 102. He was supported well by Aaron Willsher (59) and Ruxton (41).

St Andrews were never really in with a shout and were bowled out in the 34th over for just 117.

Chris Richens (5-47) and Jack Williams (4-35) did the damage and secured the win for Felbridge & Sunnyside.

West Chiltington secured back-to-back wins as they thumped bottom-placed Clymping at the West Chiltington Sports Arena.

The visitors asked Chilt to bat first, but the wicket was quite clearly a road and the home side got off to a flying start putting on 98 for the first wicket.

Jack Elliot-Monday (60), Tim Jarvis (65) and Mick Armstrong (77) all made half centuries in a total of 255-5 declared.

Clymping’s chase never really got going and despite 59 from Chris Green, the visitors were bowled out for 173.

Skipper Tim Monday was the pick of the bowling as he took 4-35 – supported well by Mick Armstrong, who took 3-30 along.

Southwater now sit eight-points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand over Arundel and West Chiltington.

At the bottom, Clymping’s situation is looking desperate, 32 points from safety along with East Preston, who sit seven points behind St Andrews, but having played an extra game.
