WORTHING Cricket Club have added Sussex batsman Matt Machan to their squad for the upcoming Sussex League season.
Machan has joined from Premier Division rivals Hastings, and Worthing have also signed Zimbabwean under-19 all-rounder Malcolm Lake, who scored a century against India under-19s in a one-day match in August.
Darryl Rebbetts will again captain Worthing this season and Worthing chairman Tim Dunn said: “Hopefully, we’ll see quite a bit of Matt. He’ll probably be with Sussex for the t20 campaign but, if we can get a dozen games out of him, it will really boost our batting.
“Malcolm has scored a 100 for Zimbabwe’s under-19 side and looks a decent player, and Michael Gould will also be playing more this year.”
On aims for the season, Dunn said: “If the first team can consolidate their position in the Premier Division and the second team can get promoted, then I would be absolutely delighted.”
Worthing begin their league season away to Preston Nomads on May 4.
Before then, a joint first/second team travel to Middleton for a friendly on Saturday and are then at Horsham on April 27.
