The victory ended a three-match losing run in National 2 South and moved Raiders above Canterbury into 12th place.

Dawson said: “We played the way we’ve been training. We’ve been doing that all season but then when we get to a match, I don’t know what happens.

“I thought we played really well. We got the ball into the right hands to have Kiba Richards, Ben Loosmore, Rob Smith and Dan Sargent running at them and that makes such a difference.

“We’ve been saying the same all season about taking chances and it was nice we took them today. We’ve been creating ten chances a game and only been taking one, we created ten chances today and took six.”

Dawson now wants Raiders to finish strongly in their last three games, beginning with the trip to fifth-placed Taunton on Saturday: “We said in the huddle afterwards that we fully expect 15 points from our last three games if we play like that.

“We’ve got to stick to what we’re doing in training, stick to the right patterns, put the ball in the right people’s hands. Players make the game and players break the game. With Alex Nielsen and Finlay Coxon-Smith available, it makes it so much easier because we’re always going forward.”
