Derby winner Dettori due at Goodwood

Frankie Dettori is suddenly the talk of horse-racing – and not for the first time – so he’s sure to be the centre of attention when he rides at Goodwood on Sunday.

He’s due to team up again with trainer John Gosden, for whom he rode Golden Horn to a memorable Investec Derby victory on Saturday, to ride Keble in the opening contest of Goodwood’s Sunday School fixture, the Sunday School Maiden Stakes, at 2.25pm.

Dettori was already a firm favourite on the South Downs and his second win in the No1 English classic at Epsom Downs will only add to his hero status. And with his Irish-bred mount in the Goodwood race looking likely to be the favourite, he won’t be short of race-goers putting money on him to strike again.

In all there are seven races on the card, aside from a feast of family entertainment centred on the chance to learn mote about how a race meeting and racecourse work. There’ll be visits to the weighing room and a chance to hear clerk of the course Seamus Buckley explain his job out on the track.

Gates open at 11am woth much of the behind-the-scenes stuff starting soon after.

Our tips: 2.25 Keble, 3.00 Arantes, 3.30 Dishy Guru, 4.05 Deauville Dancer, 4.35 Cashpoint, 5.10 Solar Flair, 5.40 Easy Tiger.

* A £5 stakes at the starting price on each of our tips for the first of the Three Friday Nights fixtures at Goodwood would have earned a £107 profit - thanks largely to a fine win for 25/1 chance Links Drive Lady.
