EP get locked out by the Police

METROPOLITAN POLICE FC arrested East Preston's FA Cup progress on a warm afternoon at Lashmar Road on Saturday.

It was no disgrace to go out to a team from the Ryman first division, but a fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions is rather disconcerting after the team's flying start to the season.

Pete Christodoulou has recently left East Preston to join Worthing United. This may be to the relief of the PA announcer, but it does bring down the average weight of the team considerably.

When the players ran out on to the field it was easy, even for the least discerning spectator, to distinguish who were the Police. The height-challenged home team lost all the aerial battles.

Rob Haworth, a 6ft 3in striker once on Fulham's books, nodded the visitors ahead after 12 minutes. Here was one Bobby who harassed EP throughout, and another brilliant header by the same player doubled the lead with only half an hour gone. Chris White's team were never outclassed but, from this point on, had a mountain to climb.
