Fontwell preparing for a day of emergencies

Fontwell's busy period of racing continues with a seven-race programme today.

It comes as bosses gear up for one of their biggest races of the season, the Southern National, on Sunday week.

Today’s card begins at 1.20pm with the Freddie Fowler’s 80th Birthday Conditional Jockeys´ Novices’ Hurdle and runs through to 4.20 and the Hardings Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.

Numbers across the card are solid - another sure sign that trainers and owners continue to support Fontwell and the hard work its groundstaff have done in keeping the ground in good condition.

OUR FONTWELL TIPS FOR TODAY: 120 Kanturk, 150 Silver Gypsy, 220 Mr Chow, 250 Sum Laff, 320 Killing Me Softly, 350 Bob Casey, 420 Buddy Bolero.

Results will appear on this website this evening.

* Next up at the track it’s the Southern National meeting on Sunday, November 13.

Fontwell’s Emma Newbery said: “We are teaming up with with the Sussex Air Ambulance for an emergency services theme to the day, and the entire card is sponsored by the tote.

“There will be various emergency service displays such as a fly-in by the Sussex Air Ambulance (operational commitments allowing), a display by Sussex Police motorbikes and cars and West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service.”

The totepool Southern National itself is off at 3.10 in a seven-race line-up starting at 12.25.
