FOOTBALL: County League fixtures set to be postponed

IT looks set to be a winter wipe-out for the County League in the next week, with matches on Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday all set to be postponed.

In an e-mail sent out this morning (January 7), County League chairman Peter Bentley said: "In the light of the extreme conditions throughout the county, using the "law" of common sense, (and following strong recommendations from Mrs Bentley), unless I hear from you immediately to the contrary, I will assume that all matches under the control of the SCFL will be postponed this Saturday (January 9), and for the following midweek (12 & 13).

"In the event that any club considers that they have a possibility of playing on 12 or 13, will they please notify their scheduled opponents and myself immediately.

"I have discussed the matter with the SCFA office, who are happy to be associated with this decision."
