FOOTBALL: County League round-up (February 4)

LANCING Football Club stormed up to 10th place in County League Division 2 on Wednesday (February 4) with a thumping 6-1 win at Littlehampton.

Lancers, who had lost 5-3 at home to Golds in the Sussex RUR Cup earlier in the season, took the lead after just seven minutes. Darren Boswell's free kick found Rob O'Toole, who headed home.

Dan Griffin doubled the lead midway through the half when he scored from Boswell's corner, but Littlehampton pulled a goal back early in the second period.

Lancing restored their two-goal lead on 62 minutes when Boswell finished off an excellent team move involving Will Berry and Rob O'Toole.

Boswell then made it 4-1 on 80 minutes when he tapped home the rebound after Scott Hunt's shot was saved by Golds keeper Micky Phillips, and he then completed his hat-trick a minute later.

Hunt then added the sixth two minutes later to leave Lancers boss Martin Gander delighted.

He said: "It really was a fantastic result, and was one of those games where everything went well - and long may it last.
