FOOTBALL: Danny Cullip's weekly column (March 18)

THE Albion in the Community scheme had a great night at the Football League awards last Sunday night, especially Teresa Sanders and her disability department.

Teresa and her team picked up the Best Community Project of the Year for 2010, which is a testament to all the hard work they do working with the disabled in the local community.

It was a fantastic achievement, and it is the fourth year in a row that Albion in the Community has won an award at the prestigious evening.

It was a great night and recognised everyone for the effort they put into their work.

The Albion picked up a fantastic 3-0 win over Brentford on Tuesday night and in doing so, recorded the best win at home so far this season.

The last couple of games that Brighton have played have been against teams, which when I was playing, used to be big games for rivalry.

Swindon we normally used to do all right against but Brentford were always our "bogey" team if you like.

I myself never had much luck with or against them. I did my cruciate ligament playing for them and I then spent a whole season out, which was the one before I signed for Brighton.

And then I never even had much luck playing against them, as it always seemed to be a game we'd lose.

They are a good side and always work hard so it was another good result.

By all accounts we probably should have beaten Swindon as well on Saturday, but confidence will be high again now going into another two games against teams around us.

We're eight points clear of the relegation zone now, it is amazing what a few good results can do and we'll be looking to continue them.

My Worthing Academy side made it to the final of the Sussex County Cup last week with a 10-9 semi-final win on penalties over The Weald.

It was played at Worthing United FC's ground and the penalty shoot excitement certainly made up for the 0-0 draw after extra time.

We had to have a whip-round to put some more money in the floodlights the way the shoot-out was going, and in the end I got home late for my dinner, but fair play to the lads.

At first, none of them wanted to take a penalty but credit to them, they all stepped up in the end and got a much-deserved result.

They are all now really looking forward to the final, although we don't yet know who it is against.
