FOOTBALL: Danny Cullip's weekly column (March 25)

EVERYONE'S hard work is paying off at Brighton & Hove Albion as they continued their climb up the table with a 2-0 win over Oldham on Saturday.

It is a very difficult place to go, being one of the highest grounds in the country, and the conditions are never normally very nice, with high winds, and some teams struggle there.

But it was another good win on the back of the Brentford result and sets us up well for Tranmere on Saturday.

It is all about confidence and that is now transpiring into results for us.

The loan signing of Lee Hendrie on Tuesday shows that the manager is still not sitting still, though. And bringing in a ex-Premiership player of Lee's calibre shows the intent.

Even though we're doing well, Gus Poyet still wants to strengthen '“ something that, as a player, really keeps you on your toes, especially when it's former Premiership players arriving.

With Jim McNulty heading out on loan, who knows, there could be a couple more players arriving before the window closes on Thursday.

Jim is a very good player and has probably gone out to get some games under his belt, as Marcos Painter has been doing well at left-back.

As a player, you're always wondering who could be coming in, or if there is a chance you might be heading out on loan, so you're just glued to your phone.

I've spent this week trying my hand at refereeing. I took charge of a few games at my kid's school, in a tournament they were hosting, which was great fun.

Lots of schools took part, so I took a load of Albion stuff down, for the teachers and kids to help promote the community schemes.

My kid's school got into the final and eventually won it, although it went to extra-time.

It was a really fun day. I didn't get any stick from the other parents and there were some very impressive young players there, a couple of whom are already in the Albion Academy.

My Worthing Academy side came back down to earth after their cup win last week. They didn't start well at Kingstonian, and it cost us. To be fair to the lads, they are all getting very tired now as the season draws to a close, and are picking up a few niggles and things, as they have all played a lot of football.

Congratulations to Dave Hall and his side, though, as they beat Brighton City College on Monday, who are one of the top teams in the league and run by Richard Carpenter.
