FOOTBALL: Rebels lose at Sittingbourne

It was Rebels' second successive loss after their 2-1 reverse at home to Folkestone last week. Folkestone won again today against Fleet, but leaders Croydon Athletic lost to Met Police.

Two defensive errors cost Rebels as Tom Bradbrook took advantage to give Sittingbourne a 2-0 half-time lead.

At 0-0, Jamie Brotherton had a header from Ben Johnson's corner hacked clear and Evan Archibald headed wide from a Luke Denton throw. Karl Akehurst, back in the Worthing starting line-up for the first time since breaking an ankle, also had a 25-yarder saved by Sittingbourne keeper Deren Ibrahim.

Sittingbourne went ahead on 31 minutes when Charlie Farmer slipped and Bradbrook went through and fired home from 15 yards.

It became 2-0 on 42 minutes. Farmer passed the ball back to Rebels keeper Alan Mansfield, who missed the ball, and Bradbrook slotted home.

Stuart Axten pulled a goal back when he fired into the roof of the net on 56 minutes.

Johnson then had a shot blocked and Brotherton's free kick hit the wall before Mansfield made two excellent stops.

Late Worthing substitute Wayne Clarke shot wide with two minutes left before Rebels last equalising chance fell to Johnson, who shot just wide.
