FOOTBALL: Rebels' McMenemy on Godalming play-off tie

REBELS assistant manager Simon McMenemy is looking forward to Tuesday's Ryman League Division 1 South play-off semi-final with Godalming at Woodside Road on Tuesday (April 27).

Speaking after Rebels' 1-0 win over Fleet on Saturday, McMenemy said: "Godalming are going to come here and throw everything at us.

"They finished fourth and we beat them twice, so the pressure is off their shoulders.

"If we beat them, people will say we should have beaten them anyway but games like this are always tough to call.

"If we carry over our performance from today and show enough desire and the will to win, we should be all right."

On Worthing's win over Fleet, with sealed their place at home in the play-offs, McMenemy said: "I was really pleased with the performance, because it was a proper fight.

"We knew it was going to be tight as they came here with a chance of getting in the play-offs.

"We're pleased the semi-final is here now and, if we can, we'll get the ball down and try to play football."

Jamie Brotherton missed the Fleet win with a ankle injury but should be fit for Tuesday's game.
