FOOTBALL: Rebels seal play-off place

WORTHING Football Club sealed their Ryman League Division 1 South play-off place on Wednesday (April 21) with a 3-1 win at Ashford Town.

Rebels will meet Godalming in the play-off semi-final on Tuesday (April 27) but the venue will not be known until Saturday.

The sides are level on points but Godalming have a game in hand. They are at Fleet tomorrow (Thursday) before they host Burgess Hill on Saturday. Rebels entertain Fleet on Saturday.

Folkestone will host Leatherhead or Fleet in the other semi-final.

Ben Johnson crossed for Glen Woodburn and Jamie Brotherton to head home, while Rebels' other goal came from Paul Kennett, who dived to head home a Jamie Brotherton cross as Worthing led 3-0 after 31 minutes.

Ashford pulled a goal back in first-half injury-time.

WORTHING: Mansfield; Denton, Woodburn, Axten, Groves; Brotherton, Kennett, Woodford, Johnson; Archibald, Fenelon. Subs: Patton (Kennett 60), Clarke (Archibald 65), Akehurst, Farmer, McMenemy.
