Albions’ weekend odds - Wolves

The earlier odds of 11/10 for an Albion win have long gone, although nothing less than victory, preferably a comprehensive one, will suffice for the beleaguered Wanderers who, realistically, are staring at the embarrassment of back-to-back relegation having been plying their trade in the Premier League last season.

Wolves require both Barnsley and Peterborough to lose, and overcome a four-goal difference deficit with the Posh, to complete a great but unlikely escape - and odds of 1/50 for the drop suggest they will be playing League One football next term.

Wolves are available at 29/10 with the draw 11/4; the Molineux outfit have endured a wretched season and even the appointment of former Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders mid-season has failed to arrest their slide. How ironic his former club will almost certainly be replacing the Molineaux outfit in the Championship next season.

Brighton confirmed their appearance in the play-offs when winning a feisty encounter at Elland Road last Saturday. There were three red cards, three goals and, more importantly, three points for the Seagulls as Jose Ulloa took advantage of non-existent marking to nod home the late winner.

The race to join Brighton in the play-offs looks fascinating with Hull and Watford still playing for the second automatic promotion place.

The Tigers (20/21) entertain champions Cardiff knowing victory will ensure Premier League football again at the KC Stadium, but any slips could allow Watford to pounce.

Hull are 2/5 to be promoted with Watford 8/11; the Hornets entertain Leeds and are 8/11 to go up.

Leicester are now 20/1 to be playing top-flight football next term.

Bolton (7/2 to be promoted) and Crystal Palace (4/1) appear to have the best opportunities of a top-six finish given they have home fixtures against Blackpool and Peterborough respectively.

The Seagulls are 11/4 chances in the play-offs and they have, arguably, the best recent form and, whatever the outcome of Saturday’s game, will go into the play-offs the side to beat.
