Bennett resigns as Littlehampton boss

MARK BENNETT has resigned as Littlehampton Football Club manager just days after lifting the Sussex County League title.

Golds sealed the title on a thrilling final day on Saturday, when they drew 3-3 with Newhaven to finish one point ahead of Dorking Wanderers, who lost 2-1 at Arundel.

Bennett was part of the Littlehampton squad who won the County League in 1991 and guided Golds to the title this season in his fourth campaign as the club’s manager.

In a statement this evening, Golds said: “LTFC has received the resignation of 1st team manager Mark Bennett and have accepted this.

“The club would like to thank Mark for his hard working four years at LTFC which led us to the Division 2 title in 2013 and concluded last Saturday with the Sussex County League title. Mark took us from lower half of Div 2 to the top of County league in four seasons which is an excellent achievement.

“The club wish Mark all the best for his future adventures.

“Littlehampton FC will make a further statement in the next few days.”
