Blues and Maltman part company two games in

Blues and Maltman decided to go their separate ways after their 6-2 defeat at Saltdean on Tuesday evening.

The former Ferring boss expressed his disappointment at the move, but indicated off-the-field disagreements were to blame and an amicable agreement was reached before matters got any worse.

He said: “Without going into too much detail, before the game on Tuesday a discussion took place on things that were promised and I believe the decision was already made.

“There were things that we were not going to agree on whatsoever, as I thought things needed changing after last season and a lot of people did not think that was the case.

“There was also a rumour going around last week that I was approached by another club and I was speaking to them, which was ludicrous.

“From my point of view, after just two games it’s disappointing, but if we carried on things would have got worse.

“I came to an agreement with John Virgoe and Frank Sumner and took a decision for the best as we didn’t want to fall out.”

Blues’ James Bennett and Alex MacIver pulled back two late goals in their cup exit at Saltdean on Tuesday evening.
