The Albion manager is impressed by Palace’s strengths as a team and believes the Championship side will have a point to prove in the fifth round of the FA Cup against Women’s Super League opposition.

Powell said, “It’s a fantastic setting for us to have a chance to play against our local rivals, and it’s a game that everyone is looking forward to.

“We know they are a team that can’t be underestimated, as the Championship sides are getting stronger year in year out, as are the WSL sides.

“We had a tough task against Aston Villa, so we take nothing for granted in what’s a one-off game. If we want to be in the next round, we’ve got to win the game.”

“The fact that we are a WSL 1 side means we are expected to win the game, and they have more to gain and less to lose. They will absolutely go for it, so we have to be prepared for a tough game and not take them or the competition for granted.”

Powell’s side are currently unbeaten in their previous three matches in all competitions, a run that started against Aston Villa in the previous round of the competition.
