Brighton beware: Gareth Southgate sends this message to 'outstanding' Aston Villa duo

Brighton will hope to return from the latest international break fully refreshed as they seek their second victory of the Premier League season.

Graham Potter's men have had a patchy start to the new campaign and have just six points from their first eight matches.

Albion have played some decent football and are creating chances but have so far failed to register the goals and points their performances have perhaps deserved.

Brighton will however be up against a hugely improved Villa team who have recorded some impressive results this season and have 15 points from their opening seven fixtures.

Jack Grealish has once again been the main man for Dean Smith's team. The attacker has been a threat all season and was also excellent for England on Sunday despite their 2-0 loss to Belgium in the Nations League.

Southgate was delighted with the 25-year-old but the England manager was also quick to praise Grealish's Villa teammate Tyrone Mings who looked comfortable in defence against the Belgians.

“Jack is the obvious one," said Southgate. "His performance was outstanding. Tyrone (Mings) as well. That’s a level up from the games he’s been in with us before.

“I think, firstly as a person, since he’s (Grealish) come into the camp he’s impressed us with his approach,” Southgate said.

“He’s been curious to find out what we’re looking for from him. He’s taken that on board with these performances and in training.

“He transferred his club performances into international football tonight against a top-level opponent, so we couldn’t have been happier with what he did.

“He should be really proud of his performance and, yeah, as I say, I think he really stood up against as tough an opposition as you’re going to face.”

The Aston Villa playmaker must have surely sealed his spot at next summer’s European Championship but on Saturday he will get back to Premier League business with his club against Brighton.

Albion's hopes of containing the Villa captain will be boosted by the return of their own skipper Lewis Dunk, who has completed his three match suspension after a red card at Crystal Palace.

Dutch international midfielder Davy Propper could also be available for selection. Propper has not featured in a Premier League match this season due to an Achilles problem.
