Brighton goalkeeper returns to Amex Stadium after League Two loan spell

Goalkeeper Tom McGill has returned to Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of his loan spell with League 2 Crawley Town.

The 20-year-old spent part of last season at Crawley and made his senior debut against Millwall in September in the Carabao Cup.

Tom made four appearances for the Reds and played in their memorable 6-5 FA Cup win over Torquay United in November, when he had to come off in the second half with concussion.

Meanwhile, Albion announced that goalkeeper Jason Steele has agreed a new contract with the club until June 2023.

Head coach Graham Potter said, “Jason has been great for us and we are pleased to extend his stay here.

“He is fantastic within the group, he has supported the players even when he’s not been in the team and that is a credit to his character.

“He adds a huge amount to the goalkeeping competition we have and he proved that with the level of performance in the penalty shoot-out on Sunday night against Newport.”

The 30-year-old keeper has made three Carabao Cup and one Emirates FA Cup appearance this campaign – impressing with his four penalty saves in the third round tie at Newport as Albion advanced to round four.

He joined Albion in June 2018 after spells with Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland.

He has also represented England up to Under-21 level.
