Brighton and Hove Albion continue to monitor the developments surrounding the long-running Rhian Brewster transfer saga.

Liverpool have bolstered their attacking options following the £45m signing of Diogo Jota from Wolves which could pave the way for Brewster's Anfield exit.

It seems Liverpool favour a permanent transfer for the England under-21, with a buy back clause, rather than a season long loan move to another club.

Brighton are among a host of Premier League clubs keen on Brewster, alongside Sheffield United, Aston Villa and West Brom.

"We have made enquiries about a few strikers and most on loan," Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder said last week. "Rhian is one we have talked about and spoken to Liverpool about. We need to bring another one in."

Sky Sports reported yesterday that Crystal Palace made a £19million bid with £6million in add-ons. This was however later denied by Palace owner Steve Parish who took to Twitter to deny the 'total fabrication'.

The arrival of Jota at Anfield increases pressure for places and it's unlikely Brewster will get game time at Liverpool in the foreseeable future.

Many wouldn't blame Brewster for wanting to move on and could well follow Tariq Lamptey's lead who left a big club like Chelsea in search of game time and is now shining in the top flight with Brighton.

Albion head coach Graham Potter has proved he will give talented youngsters first team chances and will work to improve them as players.

Aaron Connolly, Steven Alzate and Lamptey have all befitted from working with Potter who could also be the right coach at the right time to unlock Brewster's clear potential.

"He's a fantastic coach," said Lamptey. "Especially for a young player like me. The way he wants to play football, it's just excellent.

"He has a clear project and he knows exactly what he wants from us and he's always speaking to me about what I can do to help the team and to bring the best out of me as well.

"It helps when you have a coach that really believes in you. I am just thankful that I have someone like him."

Lamptey and Brighton looked sharp in their 3-0 win at Newcastle last Sunday. Attacking duo Neal Maupay and Connolly were both on target while Leandro Trossard also scored on the opening day against Chelsea.

But the addition of a striker such as Brewster would clearly enhance Graham Potter's options and add another dimension to their play.

Potter has also backed Alireza Jahanbakhsh to add to his goal tally this season while Viktor Gyokeres, who scored against Portsmouth in the Carabao last week, offers another option.

The Sweden international will likely feature alongside Jahanbakhsh in the Carabao at Preston on Wednesday but whether he fits in Potter's Premier League plans remains uncertain.

Gyokeres impressed on loan at St Pauli last term and Championship outfit Swansea are believed to be keen to take Gyokeres for this season.
