Dan Burn: Manchester United was a blip and we are ready for Norwich

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Dan Burn expects no hangover from the Manchester United result as they prepare to face bottom of the table Norwich City at Carrow Road this Saturday

Burn was part of a defensive unit that at times struggled with the pace and power of the Manchester United attack last Tuesday.

A goal from United's excellent Mason Greenwood and a brace from Bruno Fernandes saw them to a comfortable 3-0 win at the Amex Stadium.

It was Albion's first defeat since the restart following an encouraging four points from their previous two matches against Arsenal and Leicester.

Graham Potter's men are six points above the relegation places with six matches remaining - starting at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Norwich have just 21 points this season and are seven points behind Watford who are fourth from bottom. Norwich clearly don't possess the attacking threat of Man United but they can be a tricky opponent on their home turf.

With Liverpool and Man City still to play, this is indeed a crucial match for Brighton and Burn anticipates a tough test.

“We’ve had a good start since we have come back from lockdown, so hopefully the game against United is just a little blip and we can go to Norwich and get a result," said Burn.

"But we know it will be a tough game. They gave us a good match before we scored a couple of goals in the 2-0 win here, so we will have to be ready."

“The Norwich game was never on our mind on Tuesday, you’ve got to play every game as it comes," he added.

“Norwich is a big match, but then we have still got Manchester City and Liverpool to play after that so it’s not like we have got lot of teams at the bottom to play - we’re playing the teams at the top, we wanted to pick up the points against United, but it wasn’t to be.”

Leandro Trossard scored against Norwich in the 2-0 victory at the Amex last November. The Belgain also made a positive impact against Man United from the bench and hopes to take that into the Norwich match.

“Our response was good in the second half and that’s what we have to focus on looking at the Norwich game,” said Trossard.

“The games come fast at the moment and that’s good for us in terms of being able to make up for Tuesday and hopefully get a good result on Saturday,” added Trossard.

“We have to take the good points from the United game and try to make it difficult for Norwich on Saturday.”
