Tua produced an encouraging display at the Etihad during the 1-0 defeat. The 26-year-old looked sharp and confident in possession.

His pace and trickery caused numerous problems for the City defence and Oleksandr Zinchenko in particular.

He's firmly in contention for Brighton's next Premier League match against Leeds this Saturday and could well be a key player for Brighton as they look to maintain their Premier League status in 2021.

McManaman was impressed with his debut display at Newport and believes he has to skills to be a threat in the Premier League.

"We will have all of South Africa watching tonight," said McManaman. "He is full of tricks.

"The pitch the other night (at Newport) was not conducive to the way he plays.

"You can see he is sharp and he wants to take people on. He is going to be dynamic and lets hope he can show what he can do."

Tau is skilful left footed player and likes to run at defenders. He has 12 goals in 28 games for his country and is hugely popular with fans back in South Africa.

He joined Brighton in 2018 from Mamelodi Sundowns but work-permit complications saw him loaned out to Tony Bloom's Belgian side Union SG.

He was voted the Proximus League Player of the Season and then agreed a short-term move to Club Brugge where he won a league winners' medal and made six appearances in the Champions League.

Tau was then loaned out for a third consecutive season to Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht.

Albion head coach Graham Potter praised his display after the City match. "His attributes are different to what we have. He's a left footed attacker that can play in tight spaces.

"He's really intelligent and runs in behind. His touch is very good so he can evade defenders and he brings his own personalty to the group."
