Jamie Redknapp and Bobby Zamora agree after Ben White error at West Ham

Sky pundits Jamie Radknapp and Bobby Zamora criticised the defending of Brighton's Ben White and Lewis Dunk after the 2-2 draw with West Ham at the London Stadium.

Brighton led at half-time through Neal Maupay, but a double substitution from Hammers boss David Moyes changed the game after Andriy Yarmolenko and Manuel Lanzini set up Ben Johnson to equalise with his first senior goal.

Dunk’s strike, at the near post from a corner, put Brighton back into the lead but, unfortunately for Brighton, Tomas Soucek's late header rescued a point.

Soucek was allowed plenty of space in the box from the set pieces and was able to get a run on White and comfortably head home.

"For me highlighting Ben White unfortunately," said former Albion striker Zamora. "He would have been told to pick up the runners but if you have a look at Ben, look at Soucek who runs straight off him.

He [Soucek] doesn't know too much about it as it hits him in the face after Dunk's contact.

"Whether there is a shout in there and he [White] decides to pull away at the last moment, I don't know."

Redknapp concurred with his co-pundit Zamora and criticised Dunk and White for their part in the West Ham goal.

"I agree," said Redknapp. "Because if you are going to do that blocking you have got to be strong and get the arm up and stop the run of Soucek.

"But look at Dunk as well, you have got to head it. It has landed right on his head and all he has to do is get a big head away and clear the lines.

"But for some reason he just tries to flick it. Soucek reads it well, you know what you are going to get with him."

Maupay, who scored his fifth of the season with a well-taken goal in the first half was also disappointed to concede.

"Obviously we were leading twice in this game and I thought we played well for most of the game," the Albion striker said.

“But West Ham are playing well, they have started the season really well, so credit to them. They came back twice. It’s a busy period, and you have to be happy with a point.

“I thought our plan was good but you know it’s small details and they came back.

“The first (equaliser) can happen, but that last one, with around 10 minutes to go – it’s frustrating for us. But it’s football you know. We can’t complain with a point, especially in our situation."
