Davy Propper is expected to miss Brighton's last 16 Carabao Cup contest with Manchester United at the Amex Stadium tonight due to a recurrence of an Achilles injury.

Propper had a disrupted pre-season and has not featured in a Premier League match so far this season.

He has played in both of the previous rounds of the Carabao Cup against Portsmouth and Preston and was hoped to be fit to face Manchester United in the Premier League last Saturday.

The Achilles injury has however flared up once more and the Dutch international was not included for the painful 3-2 loss last Saturday and is set to sit out once more tonight.

"It's just a little bit of a recurrence really of his problem, a little bit of a setback, nothing too sinister at this stage," said Albion head coach Graham Potter.

"He was unavailable for the game at the weekend and probably won't be involved tomorrow but we'll see how it is.

"It's doubtful, I don't really want to rush him."

The Netherlands face Mexico, Bosnia and Italy in the next international break and Potter believes the midfielder is unlikely to feature for his country.

"He's not fit for us, so I'm guessing he's not going to be ready for that type of competition either," Potter said. "We'll just see how he is over the next few days."
