Michael Owen fires warning to Brighton strikers ahead of Sheffield United clash

Brighton must find a way to turn attractive football into results against Premier League basement side Sheffield United this Sunday at the Amex Stadium, says Michael Owen.

Brighton are 16th in the league standings after Wednesday's 0-0 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Once again Brighton played decent football and could easily have gained three points against Scott Parker's improving team had Albion striker Danny Welbeck converted a golden chance in the first half.

Adam Lallana also had a strike ruled out by VAR due to a handball in the build-up and defender Adam Webster saw a thumping header crash back off the cross bar.

Graham Potter's men were however grateful to their young 6ft 6in keeper Robert Sanchez.

The 23-year-old Spaniard was selected ahead of regular No 1 Maty Ryan and more than justified his spot at Fulham with two excellent saves in the second half.

Sanchez, who was on loan at League One Rochdale last season, is set to keep his place against Chris Wilder's Sheffield United.

Sheffield were impressive last season but Thursday's 3-2 loss against Man United means their start to this campaign is officially the worst in the history of English top flight football.

The Blades have just one point from 13 matches and will be determined to improve their fortunes at Brighton this Sunday.

"Sheffield United’s season seems to be going from bad to worse," wrote Owen's in his weekly BetVictor predictions blog.

"They were poor against Manchester United on Thursday, and despite not being expected to get a result, defeat is never a good thing when you’re trying to build some confidence.

"Brighton were held 0-0 against Fulham on Wednesday. The Seagulls have played well at times this season, but they really must start getting something from these matches.

"The Blades arrive here having lost their last eight away matches in the Premier League, and unfortunately for Chris Wilder and co, I think Brighton could add to that worrying stat."

Michael Owen blog prediction: Brighton 2-1 Sheffield United.
