Michael Owen makes this strange prediction for Brighton ahead of Southampton

Brighton welcome Southampton to the Amex having taken four points from their last two league games, a 2-1 win at Aston Villa and a 1-1 fightback draw with champions Liverpool.

The visitors will arrive still smarting from a 3-2 home defeat by Manchester United in which they led 2-0 before substitute Edinson Cavani’s late double condemned them to a first defeat in eight outings.

Brighton were impressive against Liverpool last Saturday and have also played some impressive football without getting the points they perhaps deserved.

Summer arrival Danny Welbeck appears to have added an extra dimension to their attack however and they also welcome back brilliant young wing back Tariq Lamptey after his one-match ban.

Graham Potter's men will though be without the creative talents of former Saint Adam Lallana, who is struggling with a groin issue.

Striker Neal Maupay will also get a late fitness check on his hamstring injury which he sustained against Liverpool, moments after missing a penalty.

Southampton could well be boosted by the return of striker Danny Ings and Brighton will also be all too aware of the threat posed by visiting midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

The England international has scored three times in his last four games with superb free-kicks.

"Southampton are playing well away from home," wrote Owen in his weekly BetVictor predictions blog.

"They’ve been impressive this season, and as I’ve said previously, I think Ralph Hasenhüttl is a fantastic manager.

"Brighton are such a positive side. They’ve gone head-to-head with a lot of top teams this season only to come away empty handed.

"That’s the only way they seem to know how to play, and despite how likeable that is, I reckon it could play into Southampton’s hands here."
