Premier League to ‘spy’ on Brighton training to avoid cheating as club prepare for return

Brighton are set to return to training this week with inspectors due to ‘spy’ on Premier League clubs’ sessions to help avoid any cheating of new rules

Surprise visits from inspectors are planned to ensure teams are training for the correct amount of time and not breaching social distancing guidelines before the season restarts.

Albion players and coaches will start training in small groups at their Lancing training facility and will be restricted to 75 minutes a day.

It is also reported by The Times and the BBC that Premier League clubs will have video recordings and GPS data monitored.

“Gradually, we aim to ramp that up so we can have an inspector at every training ground." said Richard Garlick, the Premier League's director of football.

“That will enable us to give everyone confidence that the protocols are being complied with, and give the public confidence that we are trying to create a very safe working environment.”
