Brighton and Hove Albion's Amex Stadium can create a special atmosphere when it's really rocking.

The Amex has been home to the Seagulls for almost nine years, since their move from the Withdean Stadium in 2011.

The first competitive match was the 2010–11 final of the Sussex Senior Cup between Brighton and Eastbourne Borough on July 16, 2011 and the first league game was against Doncaster Rovers.

The Amex hosted Premier League football for the first time in August 2017, following Albion's promotion at the end of the 2016–17 season.

The stadium has proved a hit with the Albion faithful but what has the matchday experience been like for visiting fans?

To find out, we have taken a look at the popular Football Ground Guide, where information is shared on each stadium and supporters can get involved with their reviews.

A good day out - the sun shone all day which also helped. I was happy with a draw as well. Food outside the stadium was good if pricey.

My son had a burger for £6 but it was good quality and very meaty, unlike the cardboard composites we have outside Villa Park.

No issues mingling with home fans. The Amex is a very nice ground inside - the outside doesn't do it justice. A good view from the away end and padded seats as well.

It was my third visit to the ground, its well laid out, the hill to the away end is a bit of a slog. The game was a bit flat, so was the crowd.

We were the better team in the first half, but could easily have lost in the second.

Didn't have time for a pie before the game and they had all gone at half time, apart from the Veggie option. Bit of a lacklustre day all round.

Adam (Everton) Albion vs Everton - October 26, 2019

The game was end to end football which led to both sets of fans generating a great atmosphere. Overall I enjoyed my trip to the Amex and would recommend others visit the ground if they get the chance!

The only let down of the day was the horrible weather with torrential rain from the off and to add to this I was in the front couple of rows of the stadium which were not well covered from the elements so I along with many others got soaked which isn’t ideal!

Other than this I has a good day and look forward to coming here again in the future! The ground is very nice to look at both from the inside and out, it has a modern feel to it and fits in well with its surroundings unlike most modern grounds.

The padded seats throughout the ground were a great bonus! I was surprised with how clean it was

Andrew Davidson (Sheffield Wednesday) Albion vs Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup January 4, 2020

Brighton was one of the nearest grounds of the 92 I had not visited. Tickets were easy to buy and were a bargain at £15 in advance for all seats. The stadium itself is beautifully designed is very modern but also quite unique in its eye-catching look.

The away end and the other end stand are much smaller than the east and west stands. We sat in the latter, which provided excellent views. The game itself had a dull first half and a much better second period.

The atmosphere was excellent with Wednesday’s fans getting louder as the game progressed! The stewards were helpful and I had just had a couple of reasonably priced diet cokes.

The Amex is about the best medium-sized stadium I have been to. The stadium even has padded seats, what more could you ask for?

Martin T (Norwich City) Albion vs Norwich November 2, 2019

I had not been able to visit the Amex on our previous encounters so really looking forward to this one as I had been waiting a few years.

Also, making the most of the game by using it as an excuse for a weekend on the South Coast.

The atmosphere from both sets of fans was pretty good but dulled towards the end. The stewards were very helpful and friendly. Good selection of Harveys Beers at the ground.

Hung around for about 30 minutes after the game so that the crowds cleared a bit. Had some more Harveys so very convivial - chatting with a couple of stewards about footie before we caught the train back to Lewes.

Seemed to have the travel fairly well organised - train a bit cramped but only about 8 minutes to Lewes - never thought I'd get so intimate with Brighton fans!

Lots of banter and a very friendly atmosphere on the train. A great day out despite the weather and the result. I will return again if we're in the same division next season!

Andy N (Aston Villa) Albion vs Villa - League Cup September 25, 2019

We spoke to a few Brighton fans on the bus and they were all very friendly. Quite impressive for a new stadium, very well designed and very impressed with the padded seats!

The game was enjoyable as we won 3-1 it was a decent game, no singing from the home fans until they scored on the hour but 2,700 travelling Villans made it a good atmosphere.

Stewards were all very helpful. Apart from the park and ride arrangements a good day out.
