Ryan Sessegnon Brighton transfer update amid Celtic and Bundesliga interest

Brighton target Ryan Sessegnon is also wanted by Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim as the Bundesliga clubs are both keen on a loan deal for the wing back.

Albion have been keen to strengthen on the left side throughout the transfer window and have also been linked with a move for Brentford left back Rico Henry.

Celtic, who signed Brighton's Shane Duffy on loan earlier this window, also made an approach for Sessegnon but it is thought a loan fee and the players' wages could be problematic for the Scottish champions.

Sessegnon, 20, made just 12 appearances in all competitions last term and fell further down the pecking order at Spurs following the signing of Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid.

Sessegnon joined Spurs from Fulham in 2019 for £25m on a five year contract. The England youth international has not made a Spurs matchday squad this season and he could look to force a move away before the close of the transfer window.

Another England youth international defender Tariq Lamptey has thrived at Brighton under head coach Graham Potter following his £3m switch from Chelsea last January and a move to the south coast could also provide the perfect opportunity for Sessegnon to kick-start his career.

Solly March has started the season well on the left flank for Brighton but they remain keen to add further competition for places in that position.

Albion bolstered their attacking options this week with the arrival of Kosovan Swiss striker Andi Zeqiri for a reported £3.6m from Swiss Super League side Lausanne-Sport.

The 21-year-old 6ft 1in forward had looked set to join Parma and there was also interest from Wolfsburg, Nice and Marseille but Brighton's playing style and their reputation for developing young talent convinced the Kosovan Swiss forward.

“I know he puts faith in young players," said Zeqiri who scored 22 times in 37 appearances in all competitions last season.

“I had the opportunity to see what the coach was proposing to me in terms of the playing system. It is honestly something that really convinced me – I hope to do great things with him.

“Brighton are a good team. I’ve seen them play a few times, especially against United which was really good and I could really see myself as part of that."

Meanwhile, Albion's Swedish international striker Viktor Gyokeres has joined Championship club Swansea City on loan until the end of the season.
