Billy Gilmour became the latest member of Graham Potter’s squad – signing from Chelsea on deadline day in a deal costing the club around £9 million.

After the window closed at 11pm last night, Albion can now focus on the season ahead, after what has been an eventful transfer window on the south coast.

Following a successful 2021/2022 campaign, which saw the Seagulls claim their highest ever top-flight finish, Potter had to cope with losing two of his key players in the early days of this transfer peroid.

Talented midfielder Yves Bissouma joined Tottenham for £25m and Marc Cucurella became the most expensive left back in history when he arrived at Chelsea for an initial fee of £60 million.

Later on in the window, Neil Maupay departed from the south coast to join Frank Lampard’s Everton in a deal worth around £15m, having been Albion’s top scorer in each of the last three seasons.

Despite being linked with a replacement for Maupay on deadline day, Brighton were unable to secure a striker on deadline day, something which the club said it saw a bonus, not a necessity.

In total, 30 players departed from Brighton this summer – 15 of which are out on loan – bringing in more than £102 million for the club.

Potter has also made additions to his team, the most high-profile being the deadline day signing of Gilmour and Ecuadorian left-back Pervis Estupinan.

The 24-year-old defender signed from Villareal for £16m and joins fellow South American Julio Enciso at the AMEX Stadium. The 18-year-old striker arrived earlier in the window for £9.5m from Paraguayan Primera División side Libertad Asuncion.

Gilmour was not only player to join from Chelsea either, with promising defender Levi Colwill joining the Seagulls on loan for the rest of the season.
