“He showed himself to be a really nice guy and a great role model for everyone involved. The feedback from members, parents and coaches was really positive.

“During the pandemic, our kids have not the opportunities to train and play football as they would like. So to get the chance to speak to Ben, albeit online, was great for their mental well-being.

“We now can’t wait until the end of March when grassroots football will hopefully be back.”

The club gave Ben a Worthing United Youth FC polo shirt as a thank-you which he wore during the Zoom call.

White has been a key player for Brighton this season, forcing his way into Graham Potter’s team after a highly successful season on loan at Leeds in 2019-20.

Worthing United Youth FC offers youth football for 28 teams, from under-fives to under-16s, based at Rotary and Hill Barn recreation grounds.
