Chick rescues students but Team Bath claim point at Chichester

Winger Ben Chick rescued the University of Chichester with a stunning late leveller as the hosts stuttered at home against a well-drilled Team Bath side.

In the first half Chichester struggled to find a rhythm and Team Bath took the lead when a long ball on the counter-attack was finished off emphatically from 18 yards when a long ball caught out the defence.

Chichester struggled to create clear-cut chances and Team Bath were unfortunate not to extend their lead, particularly from set-pieces.

Chichester started to see a lot of the ball but didn’t use it well.

Team Bath wasted an extremely good chance to make it 2-0 before half-time.

A change in system saw Chichester revert to 4-4-2 and it paid dividends as Chick attacked his full-back and whipped in a teasing cross which was superbly finished by Jack Blatchford.

Chichester were getting a foothold but were guilty of rushing their play as the final ball went astray.

In one attack down the left, Chichester lost the ball and Team Bath broke to go 2-1 up.

Chichester showed a sense of urgency with Harry Dye and Kenneth Hagan starting to dictate the midfield.

Spaniard Pau Busquets was brought on and made an immediate impact. He won the ball deep in his own half and played a pass to Chick who took the ball from the halfway line and beat a number of players before delivering a rocket of a shot which ended up in the top corner.

There was late drama deep in stoppage time as a header by Harry Dye was disallowed for a foul inside the box, with many players bemused at the decision.

But a draw seemed a fair result and left Chichester unbeaten at home in the league for three years to keep the pressure on league leaders Hartpury.
