Crawley Town chairman Dave Pottinger tweets news of new signing

Using a new account only created on Friday he asked supporters which player they would like to see come to Crawley Town.

Pottinger Tweeted: “Crawley Town Fans - What would you like to see happen in the transfer window ? Who would you like to see play for the mighty CTFC?”

After receiving some answers he tweeted again saying that one of those they asked for is going to sign for the club on Monday.

“A player of YOUR choice signs tomorrow morning. Well done CTFC fans. This is the clubs gift back to you.”

Pottinger added: “Tomorrow after we announce the New “Fans” signing on our website. On Twitter I will post the picture and name of one of YOU.”

Among those requested were Reds’ former topscorer Matt Tubbs, whose loan spell at Steve Evans’ club Rotherham from Bournemouth has ended.

Another on the list was Yeovil Town striker Paddy Madden and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking on Sunday night, Pottinger confirmed it was him who made the tweets and that a new signing is still on track for Monday.

He said: “A new arrival is well on the way, initially on loan but we will see how it develops for him to be made permanent. It’s an exciting time and we are positive about the season.”

Pottinger would not reveal which player will be arriving.

He said: “I am not confirming who it is although Matt Tubbs and Paddy Madden were on the list. Ronaldo was also mentioned but I can rule him out!

Pottinger added: “We try not to be aloof and to be open. It’s a very difficult trade and we have lost people at the 11th hour in the past.

“I have been on the CTFC forum before with questions and answers with fans. I love the forum but I thought Twitter might be a way of reaching a bigger audience.”
