OLLIE Davis netted a late winner for Lancing Football Club away to Hailsham in their 2-1 County League Division 1 victory on Tuesday evening.
Davis struck with a header from Will Conway’s corner five minutes from time to give Lancers all three points and take them up a place in the table to 16th.
Richard Whittington’s Lancing team had taken the lead two minutes before half-time when Dominic Shepherd, who had earlier gone close, headed home a Wayne Joseph cross.
The hosts levelled two minutes after the break through Oli Davies but Lancers then dominated possession. Jonno Melia and Owen Callaghan went close, before Davis headed the late winner.
The victory was Lancers’ fourth in their last six league games.
Lancers welcomed back striker Alex Howell, who was on loan from Eastbourne Town earlier in the season, and he came on in the second half.
Lancing boss Whittington said: “It was good to win and we’ve now got a big game against Shoreham on Saturday, which we’re all looking forward to.”
