The defeat to Eastbourne Town saw EP drop two places to fourth in the County League Division 1 table, while Town climbed up to second.

East Preston boss Sammy Donnelly admitted his side were beaten by the better team and said: “Eastbourne Town are a very good side and will be near the top of the table come the end of the season and could well win it.

“But it is always going to be difficult for us when we have a different line-up each week. It’s a really tough job at the moment and any positive result we can get is a bonus.

“I am working hard to get players into the club permanently but it is really tough with 13 games of the season already gone.”

Eastbourne took the lead a minute after the interval when Liam Upton pounced on a mistake.

Sean Kelly made it 2-0 eight minutes later, before Matt McLean got the third on 57 minutes.
