Heath goalkeeper Matt Smith failed a fitness test shortly before kick-off, so for the second week running Matt Slater stood in.

For the first 30 minutes of the game Heath produced several chances, but didn’t take the lead until the 34th minute when Jack Petersen released Greg Clark, who outpaced the Ferring centre half before firing into the roof of the net for his 12th goal of the season.

Two minutes later Tom Whiting’s strong run into the box was ended when the same centre half was adjudged to have brought him down for a penalty. Up stepped Jack Petersen to make it 2-0 from the spot.

Thirteen minutes into the second half and a flowing move ended when Chris Copestake released Clark who beat the oncoming keeper to make it 3-0.

Mike Brownlee replaced skipper Scott Bacon just after the hour and ten minutes later Hugh Lawrence was introduced, replacing Andy Putnam.

Heath made the game safe on 78 minutes when a Copestake free kick was flicked on by Petersen into the path of Chris Maxted who stooped low to head in.

Despite Heath controlling most of the game it was Ferring who finished the stronger, netting twice in the last ten minutes.
