WORTHING FC cruised to a 5-0 win over Hythe Town in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday (December 10).
Rebels bounced back from their defeat at Crawley Down in style and were 3-0 up after just 27 minutes.
Tom Manton side-footed home the opener after just six minutes after Tom Lawley dummied Ryan McBride’s low cross.
Lawley brilliantly lobbed the second from Mike Huckett’s pass on 22 minutes and he then struck again five minutes later from Jamie Brotherton’s through ball.
Hythe’s Ronnie Dolan hit a post with a stunning half-volley in injury-time at the end of the first half, before Rebels completed the rout with two goals midway through the second half.
Huckett glanced home Brotherton’s free kick on 65 minutes and McBride then prodded home Huckett’s low cross 90 seconds later.
Hythe almost got a goal back in injury-time but Rebels defender Glen Woodburn’s header from a Hythe cross hit the top of the bar.
Worthing boss Chris White said: “I’m really pleased. I asked for a response after last week and the lads gave it to me. The football we played was outstanding.”
Rebels striker McBride has been handed a six-game ban for his red card at Crawley Down last week, which was his second dismissal of the season. His suspension starts with the game against Maidstone on December 17.
Worthing have put an approach in for Merstham striker Harry Ottaway but cannot speak to him until the end of the week.
