He said: “It’s such a great honour to pick up an award like this.

“It is something that I never expected when I started out all those years ago.

“I have been involved with Sussex football for more than 50 years and I’m still enjoying it, if I didn’t enjoy it, I would not still be doing it now.

“I am really enjoying my time at Worthing and being around people like Adam (Hinshelwood) is great, he is a great character and his enthusiasm rubs off on me.”

During his 50 years in the county, Fogden has been at a number of clubs. He has played and coached at Shoreham Football Club, played and managed at Southwick, managed Brighton’s youth team for 15 years, coached at Burgess Hill Town and is now currently coaching at Worthing.

Sussex FA chairman Mathew Major presented the award to Fogden.

He said: “We, at the Sussex FA, had to fill out an application form and send it to the FA and they either accept or reject the bid.

“Fortunately, in this case, they felt Mick was right for the award.
