It was a fantastic turnout with over seventy youth players in attendance over the two trial days, and the feedback from both parents and payers has been hugely positive.

Chris Landers, Newhaven FC Youth Chairman says, “We are absolutely delighted with the turnout for the academy trials. John has a unique ability to engage with the young footballers, and because of the career he’s had he brings a quality of training which players in this area would not have had the opportunity to experience before now.”

Bringing this opportunity to the local community has also caught the attention of MP for Lewes, Maria Caulfield. Maria took time out of her busy schedule to visit Newhaven FC and met with John to hear more about what the Academy can bring to young people in the local area

Maria Caulfield said: “This is an excellent opportunity for local young people who are interested in becoming better footballers and learning from a seasoned professional who has played at the top of the game.”

“It is wonderful that people like John Robinson want to return to Newhaven to give something back to the community. His academy is extremely popular and this new partnership with Newhaven FC is great for the local area and its aspiring young footballers. Maybe we will see a future Premier League star learning their trade in Newhaven.”

John Robinson said: “I am overwhelmed by the response and support we have had. Coming back to my hometown and being involved in youth football is so rewarding.

“The board at Newhaven FC immediately recognised what this can bring to the club and the community, and their commitment to youth football has shown in the response we have had at the academy.

“It was great to have the opportunity to meet with Maria. She showed the same passion and commitment that myself and Newhaven FC have, and I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for youth football in the area.”

Newhaven is the first of three academy locations launching this autumn. John Robinson Soccer UK is also launching in partnership with Eastbourne Town FC and Haywards Heath Town FC in the coming weeks. Further information and how to register can be found at www.johnrobinsonsocceruk.com
