Worthing have been in poor form of late and that was worsened with a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Rocks on Saturday.

That loss left Adam Hinshelwood's team with just one win from their previous six league matches.

Worthing find themselves seventh at present but just a point outside the play-off places having played at least three games less than every team currently in the top five.

And after guiding Bognor to a much-needed win at their closest rivals, former Burnley player and Pompey coach Blake feels Worthing will be fighting for promotion at the end of the season.

He told Rocks Radio: "Worthing obviously had a very good start to the season and they’ve got games in hand to catch up with.

“Make no mistake about it, whether they played good or bad against us, they’re going to be in the mix up come the end of the season.

“All we’re hoping is that we’re in there as well.

“I think what we’ve shown against Worthing is that we’re a match for any team in this league."
