Geary was left frustrated by the manner of United’s loss and said: “It was a really frustrating one for me.

“We were just way below the level I know we can be at.

“It’s a shame because, at home, we fancy our chances against most sides.

“Pagham are a good side but it was a game we were looking to take something from.

“Our usual passing game was off and we failed to test their goalkeeper at all.

“We seem to have struggled with Tuesday night games in the past few weeks but, as a side, it must improve because we have several midweek games coming up next month as well.”

The defeat leaves Mavericks 13th in the Premier Division table.

WORTHING UNITED: Shaw; Marsh, Philpott, Curnow, Taylor; Hayward, Edwards, Fleming; Rose, Blundell, Joesph. Subs: Paterson (Hayward), Hall (Rose), Gilmour (Edwards), Elliott, Evans.
