United trailed 2-0 at the break against unbeaten Roffey in the SCFL Division 2 match but Hunt pulled a goal back when he raced on to a through ball to make it 2-1 five minutes into the second half.

Hunt then got his second when he intercepted a pass and ran through to equalise on 65 minutes.

United boss James Baker was pleased to come away with a point and said: “In the first half they were the better team but in the second half, we came out quickly, won more second balls and a draw was the fair result.

“Their midfield and frontline is as good as any in this league and they are still unbeaten, so to come from 2-0 down and get a point is pleasing.”

Harri Nourse gave Roffey the lead on 30 minutes and Jamie Wanstall doubled the visitors’ lead two minutes before half-time.

Hunt’s double drew United level, before Baker felt Roffey should have been reduced to ten men as Mark O’Regan was dragged down when through on goal.

He said: “I don’t like to see players sent off but it was a clear red card as I have no doubt Mark would have gone through to score.

“If their player had been sent off and we were playing against ten men for the final 15 minutes, I think we’d have gone on to win the game.

“It was Harry Franks’ best game for us and he really stood out, Tom Donnelly caused them lots of problems and Brad’s goals were two lethal finishes.”

United host local rivals Upper Beeding on Saturday and Baker said: “We’re old West Sussex League rivals and we’re rubbing our hands at it. It’s a game we always look forward to.

“It’s mouth-watering for both sets of players. They will want to win to make sure they put us - as new boys in the league - in our place, while we want to win the game to send out a statement to other sides.”
